The eastern portion of Leimert Park neighborhood on ML King Jr. Boulevard (formerly Santa Barbara Avenue) developed in the early 1920's. Commercial shop buildings often styled in the shape and size of small houses were built along the boulevard and occupied by neighborhood shops and services.
